Economics: A Christian Worldview
Economics: A Christian Worldview (Teacher’s Guide is available; see below) is a one-semester course for Christian high schools and homeschool co-ops. This course focuses on the simple, consistent message that the Bible teaches about the legitimate purposes of government when it comes to the economy. That message: to interfere only if buyers and sellers harm or defraud/steal from others, and to otherwise allow them to make their own buying and selling decisions.
Of course, this means that this study champions voluntary exchange among individual buyers and sellers (or “capitalism”), as opposed to government-run economic systems like socialism or communism.
Written in clear, straightforward language, the course is designed to help students truly understand the “why” behind economics, rather than merely memorize terms.
Book chapters are consistently and deliberately brief and to the point. The course also eschews charts and graphs in favor of conceptual understanding and real-world reasoning. Students are challenged to apply what they learn to real-life economic situations, including how to refute common claims of those who favor a government-run economy. Appropriate humor is used throughout the book to help connect many economic concepts to the lives of high school students.
